Apple today released its widely-rumored Apple TV, along with iPhone 6, 6s Plus and iPad Pro at an event in California.
The new Apple TV will run on an optimized version of iOS 9.
According to New York Times, Apple intends to dive into highly competitive mobile games industry with the launch of Apple TV.
Jan Dawson, chief analyst at the technology research firm Jackdaw Research, however said face a tough competition from popular gaming consoles like Xbox.
“I think Apple’s going to create a big new category in gaming, one that others have tried and failed to create before,” said Dawson. “What the Apple TV has the potential to do is to bring casual gaming to the living room and make it a much more social activity.”
