Facebook Users in India Can Now Recharge Their Mobile Number Using its App

Facebook has added a new feature to its Android app which lets the users in India to recharge their mobile number using credit or debit card, according to Gadgets Now.

To access the new option, you will need to update your Facebook app to the latest version from Google Play Store.

After updating the app, launch it and press hamburger icon located next to the notifications icon and then tap ‘Mobile Recharge’ option.

On some other versions, the option is found titled Mobile Top-Up on general screen. If you are unable to find the recharge option there, tap See More to check its availability.

facebooookOnce you have accessed the mobile recharge option, you will be redirected to a welcome screen saying “Choose a plan and pay with your debit or credit card, its fast, secure and free.”

Tapping ‘Recharge Now’ will open a new screen asking you to enter your mobile phone details.

The new feature is currently available in Facebook app for Android and iOS users will have to wait for some weeks to get it

 

Most of the times, Facebook app automatically selects the operator of your card, but if it isn’t auto-selected, a Select Operator dropdown list is also there to manually choose the operator.

After selecting a plan or entering a recharge amount, you will land on a new screen asking you to choose from credit and debit card options and enter your card details.

You will then need to input an OTP or 3D secure password to proceed with the recharge process.

Once it is completed, the app will send you a confirmation receipt.

The new option is currently available in Facebook app for Android smartphones and tablets and iPhone and iPad users will have to wait for some weeks to get it on their devices.

facebook-articalIt is pertinent to note that you can only recharge your prepaid number through the option and cannot pay a postpaid bill.

It is also worth mentioning that the feature only lets you recharge their mobile via a debit or a credit card and not through net banking, Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and other payment methods.

Some weeks ago, Facebook-owned WhatsApp had started rolling out payment option for users in India, enabling them to send and receive money directly via messenger.
