Smartwatch shipments will reach 54.6 million units by 2020, according to a new forecast from the International Data Corporation (IDC).
The smartwatch shipments have increased to 20.1 million units in 2016, up from 19.4 million units shipped in the previous year.
IDC’s projection of a significant rise in smartwatch shipments is attributed to the Apple Series Watch 2, which is expected to be released early in 2017.
The sales of Apple Watch were declined during the second quarter of 2016. The overall smartwatch sales were also down 32 percent in Q2
